What YOU say about Rossway

Of course, I’m biased …

… so please read what our customers – people like you – say about Rossway Dog Training School:

These 4 love their training at Rossway. Please read what some dog owners just like you say.

Jon & Sonia:

We have been attending classes at Rossway Dog Training School since our Bracco Italiano puppy Hector was 12 weeks old.

We have taught and practised the emergency “DOWN’ command with our dogs from various distances, hoping to never have to use it.

Whilst crossing the road this week, the transit van I was walking behind, reversed and hit me. Hector was startled and slipped his lead. As soon as I realised I gave the ‘DOWN’ command and Hector dropped to the floor instantly and he waited in position for me to collect him.

Had he not had this training the outcome could have been very different, and I hate to think what could have happened.

We would just like to say a big ‘Thank you’ to Barbara and Abbie.

Emma Welbourn:

We have been going to Rossway with our labrador, Luna, for almost 2 years now since she was 14 weeks old and thoroughly enjoy the classes. I researched a few dog schools beforehand and when I got in touch with Rossway was pleased to be able to watch a class before starting. We really liked what we saw and haven’t looked back since. We started with puppy classes, which were brilliant at giving us basic training as we had never owned a dog before. I now do the adult obedience classes weekly and my husband does fortnightly gundog training with Pete. We love the classes and more importantly so does Luna! Pete and his team are very knowledgeable and have helped us gain confidence in our training and handling of Luna. If you are looking for a dog school we would highly recommend Rossway Dog Training School.

Dear Pete,

It’s with heavy heart that I am writing this letter.

Unfortunately Budkus died last Wednesday. His hips had finally given up, after 13 years of dysplasia, he could no longer walk.

I’ve had so many great moments with him and I firmly believe that’s because of the high standard of training he received with you.

On numerous occasions I have had to use the ‘down’ command to stop him running on a road, across a railway line or even around skiers on the slopes in France, to save his life.

Budkus was a great companion and, despite being in pain most of his life, was a very happy dog. I can remember his puppy training certificate (that he chewed up, he was so excited) to him searching for eggs in a field at a dog exhibition and diving off a boat on one of the Lakes in Switzerland to retrieve his frisbee.

All the good memories I have of Budkus are because of your dedication in training him (and me)!. Being my first ever dog you taught us both so well and that is something I will always be grateful for, who’d have thought that training a dog, pretty much on the lead all the time, could be so rewarding in the long run.

Thank you Pete, for you knowledge, skills, patience and stimulation in training us both to a high standard. It was worth it and I know Budkus had one hell of a life because of it. Wherever he is now he is running pain free (and probably eating everything he sees).

Once again, many thanks, from us both.

Rob

Kim Fenwick:

I spent a long time researching a good training school and Rossway always came up as the best. I have not been disappointed with my Golden Retrievers puppy Orla and Indi (5years). I attend on a Saturday and Tuesday with my girls and I am delighted with their progress in just 5 weeks.

Charlotte and Pete are so knowledgable and we have learnt so much.

I practice everything with them in between classes and the results are amazing. People stop me to say how well behaved they are and I am really proud of their progress.

If you are looking for a good training school I would highly recommend Rossway.

Margaret Nash:

Bobby has been attending Pete’s Wednesday class for the last 3 years .In that time he has reached his ” level 4 Distinction “.we really enjoy the classes and I have made some good friends .The classes are a real mix of breeds and ability and we all progress at our own speed …They are fun ,but most important we learn the skills to keep our dogs safe when we are out with them. I would firmly recommend anyone looking for a dog training school to come and watch one of the classes and see for yourself.

Leanne Glover:

So far, so good! Our puppy is happy, challenged and exhausted during and after training. As the handler, I receive excellent advice even outside of classes which is very useful. Instructions are clear, direct and in the moment which is just what you need to be able to adapt to the best possible methods.

I’ve received fantastic advice on collars, leads and toys for my little dog and I’m so excited for our next lesson. Within one week I had taught my dog to sit and also to fetch his toys! All thanks to wonderful advice.

James Thomson:

I would like to leave this message as I’m extremely happy with the dog training so far. After going to see a session I decided it was the course for lexi and me. From the very first lesson Lexi’s behaviour changed immediately. She is a very difficult dog and after completing 3 lessons with Pete I could not be happier. I travel over an hour away as I felt confident that he could help us. There is still a long way to go but I’m happy Pete has laid out a solid plan and look forward to completing this.

David Murphy:

Recommended by a friend, We = Bodbh (Kerry Blue Terrier} and I, have been attending Rossway Dog Training School, for over 18 months. The facilties and staff are great, allowing the dogs and their owners to learn, train and socalise in a safe place, I would whole heartedly recommend the school if your looking for a positive enviroment to help you and your dog regardless of your experience or the dogs temperment.

Edward Hatley:

I have trained two black labs at Rossway over the last ten years or so and they have both turned out to be exceptional. The facilities are excellent both indoor and out. Even a lake for water work. I cannot praise Peter highly enough and still go there for continuation training. Thank you Peter.

Tompkins Sandra:

After going to 2 different dog classes with no improvement,i then found Rossway ,i wish i had found it sooner, even after a couple of weeks i noticed the difference in my dogs, without Pete and his experience i don’t know where i would be today,i love my Sunday mornings so do my dogs, ive now been going for over a year, and know if i need advice Pete is always willing to help.

Jude Harris:

I contacted Pete Ross last October having become desperately in need of help with Daisy, our very nervous, rescue Lurcher. Pete was so helpful over the phone and invited my husband and I to view a class which was invaluable. This really showed us what can be achieved whatever the problems that an owner can have with their dog. I then decided to have individual lessons with Pete which hugely reinstated my confidence in coping with Daisy who at the time of first contacting Pete was showing signs of aggression towards other dogs.

In January I joined group classes under Pete’s excellent instruction and this is really helping Daisy in a controlled environment to become used to being in closer proximity to other dogs and their owners are only to happy to help as they understand and many have had problems which have been resolved under Pete’s tuition. Can’t thank you enough Pete for your help.

Loe Allen:

Pete is great I attend with two off my dogs, one is rescue. I got her over 6 weeks ago, she had been a kennel dog all her life. I took her to Rossway, she is coming on leaps and bounds, growing more confident by the day. She has already started to pick up commands! My other dog Becky has learnt so much and I have noticed a complete change in her attitude (no longer being a teenager to her mum) at home! She no longer drags me along the road on a walk! I’m super excited for my next session and I know Becky is too! Cannot recommend Pete enough! Telling everyone I know!

Helen Sutliff

Hi Pete,

I wanted to let you know that Jenson and I went on our first shoot and he picked up 12 birds, really naturally quartering in the woods, looking for birds that had been dropped.

Thank you so much for giving me the confidence to pursue the dream.

He is such a well behaved dog and that is because of your guidance.

He definitely responded better to being on a shoot than doing the field trials.

Many thanks again.

Julia Flash:

Pete knew immediately what we needed to do to manage Freddie. Within weeks the new training programme was working. We both love coming to classes. Without Pete’s wealth of experience we would have had to have given up our dog or worse he may have been put down. I can’t thank him enough.

Sophia Ahern:

I’m fairly new to dog training although I have owned dogs all my life. I adopted a lovely newfoundland who is not dangerous, but he likes to see other dogs and tends to scare them because he is so big, clumsy and enthusiastic. So on a whim I contacted Pete. I’ve never been so pleased I did. Blue loves it, has calmed down significantly, and we have good fun. Blue reliably informs me that going to classes is even better than a walk! We are both making new friends and learning something into the bargain. Highly recommended.

Melanie Guy:

A big thank you to Charlotte and Pete. I am really enjoying training with my pup Reba. When I first found Rossway Charlotte invited me to come and watch a lesson first. I was impressed with Charlotte and the facilities. Then I brought Reba along for an assessment and we were put in the puppy class. Reba loved socialising with the other dogs. We have now moved up to adult and enjoying every session with Charlotte and Pete. Lessons are relaxed fun and we are both learning loads. Keep up the great work. Love it.

Andrew Crabtree:

My wife has been taking our dog Otto, a border terrier, to see Pete at Rossway for 3 years. We researched trainers thoroughly before settling on Pete. His no nonsense approach was just what our dog needed….firm but fair. Our dog isn’t perfect but he’s come such a long way and is so much easier to handle when out and about; he’s a pleasure to be with now. A big thank you to Rossway for achieving this. With the added bonus of outdoor training, dog agility and off lead mixing with other dogs it’s the perfect combination.

Mary Taylor:

Cannot recommend Pete Ross’s training school highly enough. My reactive rescue dog still has a way to go, but after some individual training with Pete, I am now a far better handler. We both now love coming to the group sessions, which give her a chance to mix with other dogs and overcome her fears. Thank you Pete – don’t ever give up training!

Barry Lynn:

I’ve been going to Rossway with my Vizsla Monty for 16 months, starting when he was 16 weeks old. The facilities are excellent with a large tarmac parking area, large field, agility training area and indoor training room.

Monty and I have enjoyed the puppy and adult classes very much, meeting other owners and their dogs. Thank you to Charlotte and Pete for the expert tuition. I am glad to recommend Rossway for you and your dog.

Paul Bodsworth:

If you want a greatly experienced and proven dog trainer then Rossway Dog Training is the place to choose!

We have been taking our rescue dog there the last 3 months and have seen remarkable improvements in him. You will need to put in the work and trust Pete even when you might feel like disagreeing but you will see real results.

Don’t waste money go to the best!

Malika England:

I am glad to have found Pete. After a few weeks of training, our cocker spaniel is showing great improvement in terms of heeling, sitting and down commands. This is thanks to Pete passing on his vast knowledge of dog experience onto me. Well done!

Clare Deacon:

I’ve always used Pete and the Rossway team when training my dogs. Most recently Pete and Charlotte have helped us work wonders with our rescue Labrador and we both love coming every week. Started with 1:1’s and how now progressed to the adult classes. Definitely recommend Rossway!

Auriel Hodge:

Rossway is an excellent Dog Training School.

I have been attending with my little dog Nia for almost 2 years. We enjoy the training classes, learning new skills and meeting other dogs and owners. We have both benefitted from the advice and expert tuition given by Pete. I am now the proud owner of a happy, well behaved, confident little dog.

Thank you Pete.

Dawn McEwan:
·
Well what can I say about Rossway……. AMAZING DOG TRAINING SCHOOL WITH GREAT STAFF!

After attending a couple of other dog training classes without the support we needed, I then found Rossway. We have been attending for the last 8 years, first with Poppy and now Lexi (Cocker Spaniel & Hungarian Vizsla).

The trainers are amazing, not only teaching the dogs obedience and agility but also training the dog handlers on lots of great tips and help whenever needed – Making the classes so much fun, that we carried on week after week.

I can’t thank Pete and Charlotte enough as there is nothing more rewarding than having a well behaved dog, which is truly thanks to Rossway dog training school.

If you are unsure whether to join the wonderful team at Rossway….. I would highly recommend this training school.

Caroline Moore:

I would totally recommend Rossway Dog training, I am currently taking my 9 month Romanian rescue puppy to Pete and find his advice & support invaluable. Joey is my 3rd dog to pass through the school, which helped my 2 very stubborn & unruly labradors with their obedience & recall.

Sarah Westall:

Thanks to Rossway Dog Training school, ‘A’ class team of trainers. From rescuing 2 dogs and turning them into super dogs.

Sarah W:

Control with confidence.

We’ve been going training with Pete for over a year now with our 5 yr German shorthaired pointer, Bodie.

We got Bodie as a rescue dog 2 years ago. He’d had 2 previous owners and a history of fighting with dogs that he lived with.

In truth we were completely unprepared for how to control any aggression that he was showing towards other dogs that didn’t give him space.

After about 8 months of trying different trainers we found Rossway dog training.

From the very first lesson Pete gave us hope that we would be able to get our beautiful boy to behave in the way that was not a threat to other dogs.

We go to weekly group general obedience lessons and fortnightly gundog classes. We love it, and Bodie loves it (well, he loves gundog – he puts up with obedience).

The most important thing is that when we are out walking we feel in control, even if other dogs around us are not, and we are more relaxed for it and able to enjoy all the benefits of having a dog in our family.

Thanks Pete and team.

Eva A:

Outstanding.

When I adopted Dobby (from South Korea) I did not understand how smashed both of us were.

As pieces of two giant puzzels we found each other at Shiphol airport one year ago.

None of our patterns could be seen and we added the confusion by throwing all our pieces in a shared paper bag called life.

It was hard to find even two matching pieces and I grew more and more confused.

I found Rossway and I can tell you Pete is a master of puzzels!!!

Not only did he pull out all the pieces from the bag; he organized them and found ways to build one, whole picture of two smashed ones and he added colors, called joy, to every piece he glued together.

I can now see a beginning of a painting, Lesson by lesson I can feel the bond between me and Dobby growing stronger.

We still have a long way to go but now we have a path to follow and a light showing us the way through the woods.

I am so grateful for everything I receive and I can honestly recommend Pete and Rossway Dog Training School.

Caroline:

Leaps and Bounds

We’ve been seeing Pete for 9 months now and every day is a learning curve for me and my dog.

Otto is by no means a perfect dog, a troublesome terrier, but he is 100% better socialised and far more pleasurable to walk.

We went to extreme lengths to avoid contact with other dogs but Pete made it perfectly clear that as I had my dog on a lead and under control the fault was not with me.

The confidence he has given me has turned our dog into a beloved pet once again!

Lorraine Stannis:

Thoroughly Recommended!

We have attended lessons with our rescue dog Stannis (who came with many issues) for 7 months now, and through Pete’s experience and methods of training he has turned our dog into a much calmer, happier, sociable and obedient dog.

We would thoroughly recommend to anyone looking for professional help in training their dog.

HappyPuppy:

The best of the best.

Pete is absolutely brilliant, and you have to be if you are a world class dog trainer like him.

Our 6 month old rescue puppy was very nervous to begin with and growled at almost everything she saw.

She is now in her 6th week and her attitude now is a lot different from when she started.

Pete is the best of the best and I would recommend him to any dog owner in the world.

He has trained gun dogs , dogs on their last warning, even for the military!

Putting it quite simply, he is the best.

Loftking1957:

We have been taking our dog Elly to Pete’s Thursday afternoon class since April 2014, I must say the improvement with Elly has been fantastic.

We took Elly on from the Chitern Dog Rescue after we both fell in love with her.

She was already a very nice and affectionate dog but we thought that she was a bit timid and we could see that she had potential.

So after hearing about Rossway through the rescue centre went & met Pete.

I must say it was a good decision as Elly has come in “Leaps & Bounds”.

She is now a confident little dog.

This is all down to Pete’s methods, training routines and knowledge which he has passed on to my Wife who also puts maximum effort in to Elly’s training – the result is that we have a happy, well mannered dog who is a pleasure to walk ,meet other dogs and people, mind you mischief is never far away given a chance !!

We can’t thank Peter enough for his help & guidance.

Paul Simms:

Full marks to Rossway.

We have a ‘very lively’ boxer Max who to be honest was a nightmare.

We had two 1 to 1 classes and are now attending a regular group class.

Max will now socialise with other dogs and i no longer have a panic attack when we are out.

We now have a dog we can be proud of.

Caroline Austin:

Highly Recommended.

I take Mia our 8 month old GSD to Pete at Rossway.

I will continue to do so.

If his training wasn’t working we wouldn’t go its that simple.

I would recommend Rossway to anyone.

D East:

If only there was a Pete on every street!

Having already tried other dog trainers and not really getting anywhere and dare I say even considering trying to re-home our nervous aggressive springer (lunging, snapping, barking at every dog we came across), we still don’t know what we would have done if we hadn’t found Pete and his team.
Yes, you have to go with an open mind and be prepared to put the work in, but if you do you DEFINITELY get results.

Starting off with the one-on-one sessions with Pete, Scamp slowly became less nervous and picked up the basics and reached a point where he could join the group sessions.

Everyone there had a story and all of them were a credit to Pete’s training as they had all come through their problems; which gave us hope for Scamp!

You also learn not to be embarrassed when you struggle with something or your dog misbehaves as everyone has been there.

It doesn’t happen overnight though so be prepared to work hard.

Now after over two years of attending Pete’s classes Scamp is a different dog (not perfect all the time, but no dog is).

There’s no having to avoid every single dog walker, he doesn’t have to wear a muzzle, can be walked off the lead and is more relaxed, obedient and above all HAPPY.

And it’s not just the dog that benefits, as an owner I have become more confident in my dog handling as a result.

The only problem is in February we moved to Norfolk and are yet to find anyone who is as good a trainer.

But what we have learnt from Pete and the training we had done helped so much with the move and with dealing with the unruly dogs of North Norfolk.

Every time we do venture back down we still take Scamp back for a bit of training in one of his group sessions, it’s one of the things we miss most since our move!

Joy Healey:

Emergency session for holiday dog.

Dog-dog is a rescue dog who had been ill-treated, until my son and daughter in-law rescued him from Spain.

While they went back in Spain for a month they asked me to look after Dog-dog.

Although he is a sweetheart round the house, meeting other dogs on walks was an absolute nightmare after Dog-dog was frightened by an incident with two “out of control” dogs in our local park. (Even before that, walks were hard work because Dog-dog pulled and jumped up at me.)

I explained the problem to Pete and that I only had Dog-dog with me for 4 weeks, so I couldn’t commit to long-term training.

He kindly arranged an “emergency 1-1 session” to assess Dog-dog – and me!!

He quickly identified some issues and even after that first session I noticed a difference in how Dog-dog and I interacted.

Pete then integrated us into one of his group classes so that Dog-dog could mix with other dogs in a safe environment and I’m delighted at how well it went.

The other dog owners were welcoming and understanding of our unusual situation and I’m looking forward to another group session before Dog-dog goes home from his holiday with me.

If I had a dog of my own I wouldn’t hesitate to book a full course with Pete, having seen the difference he has already made to Dog-dog and I.

Paulapicki:

Dog training at its best

Fantastic school …… Excellent facilities and training methods brilliant atmosphere, friendly helpful staff combined with the knowledge and expertise of owner Pete Ross probably makes this one of the best, if not THE best dog training school in the country.

I am very fortunate to live local but people come from far and wide to attend Petes classes which I think speaks for itself.

I also have a very big strong mastiff cross who previously would not do as she was told ,at all.

Since attending Rossway the things she can now do are amazing.

If you want to train your dog then Pete Ross is your man .

Deb Brazier:

Great Training!

We rehomed a rescue Staffordshire Bull Terrier who had been in kennels for 6 months from a very young age and had been under socialized.

He was difficult to take out as he was fixated on other dogs and would nip and run at other dogs bullying them and knocking them over!

With a few one to ones and now group sessions and guidance and help for me, my husband and 2 sons he has been transformed into a well mannered and well behaved 19 month old dog who is a pleasure to take out and mix with other dogs.

With Petes guidance i am now confident in handling him and get many comments from people on his excellent behaviour!!!

Kayleigh Davy:

Rossway is awesome!!

I would highly recommended Pete’s dog training school.

I have attended 4 one to one lessons and my first group lesson tonight with my Labrador diesel.

Pete takes the time and effort to get to know every dog and their owner, and asks you specifically what you wish to work on and teaches you wonderful techniques that help you and your dog to be more in sync with each other!!

He addresses every owner and dog by name and makes everyone feel welcome.

He is a bubbly, happy character and is passionate about what he does!!

Highly recommended!!! 🙂

P Reynolds:

Great Help.

I would recommend Rossway (Pete) to anyone

We have been going to Rossway for the last 6 months.

He will train you as well as your dog –  people seem to think its just the dog that needs training!

Chrissy:

The only way is Rossway!!!

I have been attending classes with my strong minded and stubborn Rottweiler Ruby since she was around 10 weeks old.

After completing the 10 week puppy course we graduated on to the adult classes.

As Ruby was growing up and entering her ‘teenage’ years, I noticed that she was becoming a little too dominant towards other dogs, something which I wanted to nip in the bud whilst she was still young.

After a couple of 1-1 sessions with Pete, alongside the group sessions she soon found her manners again and I got my confidence back with her.

We attend classes every week which we both enjoy doing.

Ruby has achieved her Kennel Club Good Citizens Bronze and Silver awards and we are now working towards the Gold.

This is something that we could never have achieved without Pete’s help and training techniques.

I now have a well trained and well mannered Rottweiler and she is a pleasure to take out on walks.

I would like to get another puppy sometime in the near future and would not hesitate to sign up to the puppy class, whilst continuing with Ruby’s classes.

Thanks for all your help Pete and keep up the good work!

Hanna:

Extremely experienced and knowledgeable trainer. Great progress with my dog.

We have been recommended Peter’s classes by a friend who has completed puppy training at Rossway School with his own dog and was very happy with the results.

We attended assessment session late Nov 14, started regular group classes from December 2014 and cannot be more happy with incredible improvements our dog has made since!

Each class contains of obedience excercises, agility, and dog play time.

Combination of classes and consequence in implementing Peters techniques every day, is paying off with a happier, calmer and more obedient dog.

I highly recommend Rossway School to all dog owners!

I wish we have found out about Peters classes much earlier!

James E:

Excellent dog school.

I enrolled my very nervous collie puppy into the puppy classes at 14 weeks old as he was so terrified of other dogs (both bigger and smaller than him).

With Pete’s guidance and gentle approach in just 2 weeks he was much more confident and by the end of the 10 weeks he couldn’t wait to meet and play with any other dog!

He went on to do the adult classes where he really learned a lot and he now has weekly 1 to 1 working trials lessons with Pete.

He’s so confident and obedient (and sometimes a little mischievous!) and we are so pleased we came to Rossway!

We really can’t recommend or thank Pete enough for his continuing dedication and support!

EayewD

Excellent results with my terrier.

I came to Pete with my 7 year old grumpy terrier after having brilliant results with my other dog.

After only one 1 to 1 and a couple of group sessions he was socialising and even playing with other dogs – before training he could never get close to another dog as he would growl and snap.

I’ve been taking him to classes for nearly 2 years now and never see the aggression any more!

He can also go off the lead on walks – something we could never have trusted him to do before.

Instead of dreading walkies, it’s now a very enjoyable time of the day!

Just wish we’d found Rossway sooner!

Russell:

Forever a pup – the Boxer.

Yes I have a Boxer along with a Jack Russell and Terrier, to anyone who has owed a Boxer know that they never grow up and continue to be a challenge.

Well, Cedar was no exception.

She is now 7 years old but I struggled with taking her out even through I have always had Boxers.

It was not an enjoyable experience and Cedar was not enjoyable!

In the passed 19 months I have been attending Rossway training school which has become an important part of Cedar and my week.

These are great sessions for both of us as we get some exercise and Cedar and I learn training skills that we can practice and improve on.

There is a variety of training experiences from basic lead control to agility and competition work.

The different methods have developed my ability and skills and I can now take Cedar anywhere due to the training skills I have learnt at Rossway and Cedar, what is more important, is a far happier dog.

The impact for the shared expertises is that both my other dogs are also now better behaved and it is a pleasure to go out with them.

I am about to get a new puppy and will without doubt take it to Rossway.

Many thanks.

BC_1:

Excellent training, highly recommended.

We got our border collie from a rescue centre when she was 18 months old; she was out first dog; we had little idea about how to train her.

Pete and his team have shared their wealth of knowledge and experience resulting in us now having a well behaved, responsive and very happy dog.

She thoroughly enjoys the training sessions, agility work and interacting with all the other dogs.

Ivan W:

Extended family.

Bridie was a rescue dog from Chiltern dog rescue centre who recommended Rossway.

We have been training with Pete and his team for 4 years now and it is a time in the week myself and Bridie love.

Pete is firm about his way; as the expert I accepted his ways and Bridie has gone from an inattentive, sometimes aggressive dog to a bouncy lovely abedient friend.

Pete keep doing what you do best, all our thanks.

Chester01:

From dispair to success! Rossway is the way!

Chester is our very strong minded, strong willed and just very strong Rotti.

We started Pete’s classes when Chester was two and although he knew his commands he was very strong minded and difficult to handle.

With Pete’s expertise we have become better handlers and Chester is a very happy, well behaved 5 year old boy.

Chester does still have his ‘moments’, and with Pete’s support he continues to improve.

Chester loves his training sessions and we also enjoy the weekly meetings and friendly atmosphere.

Pete’s training school has been the making of Chester and we would highly recommend the school.

Loups:

15 years with 3 dogs.

I have taken 3 dogs to Pete’s school, 3 dobermans:

Magic the doberman at the start of Johnie English, and 2 other dobermans all with different characters over the last 15 years.

Pete has advised with all dogs in order to get the best out of them.

Magic was my first dog and quite a challenge to begin with but excelled down to Pete.

When he went for the audition for Johnny English, up against some rottweilers, he got the part along with Cerys, Pete’s German Shepherd as they were the only 2 dogs who could work together without going for each other.

Pete is good at training dogs to be able to get on with other dogs- there are numerous dogs I have seen over the years who have for whatever reason been difficult with other dogs.

I have seen them transformed.

All 3 of my dogs continued after their initial puppy classes being the highlight of the week for them.

My current dog is excited on his training day and follows me around the house until it is time to go and then is excited all the way there.

He loves it.

There is a good opportunity for dogs to interact with each other whilst learning.

I have lately started going twice a week as my dog loves it so much.

Luna1:

Rossway is the only way!

I have been attending classes at Rossway for the past 5 years.

My first Dobermann was a handful but with help and guidance I became a better dog handler which in turn resulted in a well behaved girl.

Pete was there for me when she lost her battle with epilepsy.

He is not just our trainer he is a friend too.

I did not hesitate to enrol our new puppy with him and to date she is a well balanced youngster.

Everyone comments on how well behaved and obedient she is. This is down to Pete’s knowledge of dogs and his dedication to teaching others.

I cannot recommend him or his team highly enough.

Hannah:

Rossway, all the way!

My mum first found Pete 8 years ago when we got our dog Blaze, a big dog that was supposed to be a little lap dog.

He was very patient with my mum and Blaze both and they passed the puppy class at the end of the 10 week course.

I bought a Yorkie puppy a few weeks ago and when my mum mentioned training I immediately thought of Pete.

I took Niko to his first class this morning and am so pleased Pete is still training dogs as I wouldn’t even contemplate going anywhere else.

After our initial experience with Pete whilst training Blaze, there was no doubt that Rossway Dog Training was the place to go with new puppy Niko.

Pete is easy to talk to and very friendly.

I was nervous attending my first puppy class but once Pete got things rolling I settled in to it and Niko did so well!

Pete’s instructions are clear and concise, which is so helpful when you have to concentrate on what he’s saying and also keep an eye on a rampant puppy.

There is no doubt that Rossway is the best around, anyone else who says otherwise clearly hasn’t taken the time to actually learn from Pete’s wealth of experience.

Rossway, all the way!

Ian:

Transformation.

Last week in our lesson Pete congratulated us on the transformation in our dog, who has gone from being a miserable and frightened rescue dog to a happy pet dog.

What we should have replied is that the changes are entirely down to Pete giving us the tools we needed & support to help us do the right things to help our dog.

I don’t believe for a moment that we would be where we are now without Pete.

Pete’s experience, knowledge & patience has definitely made all the difference.

Thank you so much from all of us.

John H:

First rate trainer.

We have been taking our King Charles spaniel for five weeks and he is a excellent dog trainer our puppy is making great progress one of the best dog trainers you will find in the country.

Elisabeth:

Having tried training dogs in the past but ending up with an almost untrained dog, I bought what I thought was a “lap” dog in the form of a “sprollie” called Blaze, who grew and grew, and is not so much of a lap dog but has become the size of a retriever!

I was beside myself since I didn’t bargain for a “big” dog but instead of rehoming I searched for and stumbled across the “Rossway Dog Training School” run by Pete Ross.

That was 8 years ago and Blaze has become the best trained dog I have ever owned – the training really works but the owners have to step up and put in time and effort, not just during the however many weeks training they pay for, but on a daily basis, to reaffirm the training.

There is no bad dog, just a bad owner.

I found Pete himself to be honest, reliable and approachable with a down to earth, practical approach.

If you have problem, talk to him as he will help and encourage.

Just give him a chance but don’t be a lazy owner – love your dog, love dog training, love Rossway Dog Training School.

You won’t find better out there, I have tried!

Today, my daughter and her first pup had their first lesson and they have done so well – I’m proud of her taking on a puppy and doing right by him – by training him.

Gerard Panting:

Dog training at its best.

Pete is exceptionally good at helping you get the best out of your dog and you can see the difference almost immediately:

His experience and desire to help you is obvious and I would not go anywhere else.

Menai is our third dog and at 16 weeks is already streets ahead our other dogs.

Decoration:

Great dog trainer.

I have known Pete for 5 years and i have had two labradors trained by him and i am now taking my german shepherd for puppy training.

Not only is Pete an extremely nice guy he is also very funny and makes the classes very enjoyable.

He is firm with the owners but this is what we need because if we don’t understand how are the dogs going to understand.

He is a brilliant dog trainer and i wouldn’t even think of going to anybody else. Keep up the good work Pete.

Iggysquiggy:

Encouraging and supportive dog trainer.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Pete for all his hard work and support.

He has boosted my confidence and abilities in training our adopted dog.

I have done 2 one-to-one classes with Pete who has listened to what I have needed support in and helped accordingly.

He shares his knowledge and experience in handling a range of dogs in all sorts of different circumstances.

From a personal point of view Pete has helped me to socialise and discipline my dog, for which I am truly thankful.

I could not recommend Pete highly enough.

Elle:

Highly recommended for puppy training!!!

Our cockapoo puppy Toffee has attended around 20 group classes and 3 1on1 sessions with Pete so far, graduating from the puppy to the adult classes.

All of our family and friends are hugely impressed by how well behaved Toffee is.

Pete not only trains your dog but trains you (I had no experience training a dog previous to this).

He is passionate about his work and i’m really glad we took our vets recommendation in attending Pete’s classes.

JRgolffit:

The ONLY trainer who actually fixes dogs with problems.

My Staffordshire Bull Terrier/ Labrador Cross Chaya is a fantastic dog but had an incident that caused to to be unpredictable and aggressive around some other dogs and quite difficult to walk to heel.

I worked with three other Dog Behaviourists and Trainers before working with Pete at Rossway.

None of these trainers had any solutions whatsoever, all they could do was teach Clikka training (Absolutely useless, unless you just want your dog to do something for a treat).

They couldn’t even get her to walk to heel.

All they recommended was different leads and harnesses to little or no avail.

With regards to behaving with other dogs they had no clue.

These are people who claim to be qualified!

My first meeting with Pete I knew he was different, we started with an initial assessment and from there he recommended some one to one work.

Even during the assessment he identified key issues that needed to be improved and how he was planning to solve them.

I was really impressed by his friendly manner and even more so by his knowledge and professionalism

I had Pete as my last hope for Chaya and in one conversation he showed me there might be light at the end of the tunnel.

During our one to one lessons we worked on getting Chayas attention and behaviour improved and then introduced her to other dogs.

The lessons and a lot of hard work started to pay off. In fact her heel work was sorted after lesson 1!!

Once graduating from the one to one onto the group lessons we now needed to work with other dogs.

This brought new issues and more hard work, but Peter was there with us every step of the way reassuring me during the tough parts of the lesson and congratulating both of us when we showed improvement.

At no point during any of this time did I lose faith as his confidence in us and constant support was unwavering.

We are 4 months in now and Chayas’ improvement is incredible, she is calm around other dogs and quick to respond if bad behaviour is pointed out.

There is still work to do but from someone who had almost given up on his dog I now can see what a beautiful family member she is.

Pete is a fantastic trainer and person who gives his life to working with dogs and there owners, he lives and breathes dog training and will do everything he can to create a fantastic relationship between dog and owner.

Some dog trainers are part-time just doing it for a bit of extra cash.

Peter is the real deal.

Do not go anywhere else because they will be amateurs.

Peter is a professional and the best professional at that.

Steve Davies:

Brilliant!

I came to Rossway with Dozer, my Malinois.

A very tough and sometimes timid breed, with Dozer being quite aggressive on lead, he armed me with the skills and knowledge to get dozer to trust and respect me.

After the first lesson, I noticed a difference in dozers behaviour, and its only getting better with each lesson.

The training is ongoing, but I trust totally in Pete that I’m going to have a dog that will obey in any situation, all it takes is practice.

Pete is a honest guy and makes his message clear.

If your after a trainer that puts you in control of your dog, Pete is the guy to contact!

B West:

Transformed Our Dog After Other Trainers Gave Up.

Our Akita-Golden Retriever came from a rescue centre, which coupled with a hunter’s instinct meant he used to pull on his lead to chase scents and could be highly aggressive towards other dogs.

We tried a number of dog trainers who said nothing could be done to calm him down.

We then went to Pete: thanks to his training our dog has changed dramatically for the better.

He is now excellently behaved – trotting happily to heel during walks and is friendly and relaxed around other dogs.

Pete’s methods involve consistency and boundaries.

The classes involved varied activities. Pete is friendly and dedicated to his classes.

Rob Needers:

Excellent help with dog training.

I would really recommend Rossway Dog Training School to anyone because of the effectiveness and enjoyment the training there has to offer.

I am 16 and have been going there since Easter 2014.

I have been training my Springer Spaniel who is over a year old now.

Her recall was terrible, she was nervous of people so she barked at everyone and it was a nightmare walking on lead.

Since going her recall has improved dramatically, she only barks occasionally at single men when they surprise her and she nearly always walks loose lead.

I am so glad I have been going there because owning a dog should not be a liability and a burden, a dog is for companionship, work and enjoyment.

The skills I have learnt and I am continuing to learn from Pete has helped with other areas such as school especially in AS Level psychology.

I look forward to seeing how much she develops in the future.

Louis:

Excellent training school

I started taking my rescue terrier cross to Rossway training last October.

It was hard at first trying to train a 4 year old stray but 4 months on the results are fantastic.

Pete has so much experience with dogs of all shapes and sizes. Our group lesson is fun and rewarding.

Pete loves dogs and and the dogs respond to this. I highly recommend this training school.

Penny:

I highly recommend Rossway Dog Training.

I have a rescued border collie which had a very bad start in life which has made him very distrustful of / aggressive to people, especially men.

We had a few one to one lessons with Pete, these made a huge difference to both how I deal with situations and my dog’s attitude.

Pete has a huge amount of experience, and is very good at explaining.

Because he has so much experience Pete has sometimes suggested that we do something in a slightly different way with Alfie because not all dogs are the same all the time.

I have found this a refreshing and very effective approach.

We have now gone on to join group lessons which are reinforcing what we have learned in the individual training and which are also great fun!

The classes have given us confidence and we are all much happier as result.

I am aiming to reach the point where I have a well-mannered dog that no one will suspect ever had issues.

We are not there yet but I can’t believe how far down the road we have come in a matter of weeks and how much we are enjoying ourselves on the way!

Thank you Pete.

Caroline:

I can’t thank Peter enough for all his help training my 5 year old, unruley border terrier.

We’ve had four weeks of one to one training, not only am I now a different person, but my dog is a different dog too!

I’ve been avoiding walking where we would meet other dogs but now I feel in control of his behaviour and I am confident in my ability to deal with any situation.

Peter has really changed our family dog walks for the better…..dog walks were stressful but not any more! I just wish I’d done this sooner.

Pam Davies:

Pete has been my dog trainer for about the last 25years and I could not recommend him more highly.

I am now training my 4th GSD and 1st Border Terrier with him and as ever his approach is highly professional but fun.

He is now competing my GSD in Working trials where he is working towards his WD successfully.

The terrier has achieved his Stage 3 certificate.

The facilities at the School are 2nd to none, 3acres fenced field with Agility Course Lake for training Gun dogs and building with hall for training indoors.

He will work with any breed and specialises in dogs with behavioural problems.

Gemma Abbott:

Excellent Dog Training School:

Would definitely recommend Pete Ross and the team at Rossway Dog Training.

Pete has worked wonders with our Staffy Cross who absolutely loves going and interacting with the other dogs and does everything at 100mph.

There is such a friendly atmosphere in the group sessions with all levels of abilities together or a more intensive training in the one to one sessions.

Dear Sir,

As you know, I have a very small Chihuahua called Mini who, before I started coming to you for your excellent one to one training and advice, was very nervy and snappy.

We had to be honest about giving the dog too much love and attention and had treated Mini as a child! Mini would be carried everywhere and had no social skills or interaction with other dogs, I could not even get her to walk. She would literally not move her legs when her collar and lead were on.

Progressive changes through great help and encouragement from Pete have made a fantastic difference.

The working programme – we sat down together and the way Pete talked his way through, was excellent.

Pete, you have shown me the way forward in how to gain the confidence and ability to train my small dog Mini.

I have owned many dogs in the past and have been to other dog training classes but the knowledge and experience you have is second to none.

The world will be a sadder place when you eventually decide not to train dogs.

Myself, my wife and son can all see the changes in our dog Mini. You have to continue with the training to get the trust and the rewards are immense.

There is still a long way to go but with your help we will have a brilliant little dog.

Yours sincerely

G Davry

Dear Pete,

I would like to say a big thank you for all your help and advice.

As you know I have struggled with Champs aggression for over two years, and despite various different trainers and methods, had not made any significant progress.

I explained to you that Champs aggression was a huge problem as I was terrified to take him out.

A previous trainer had used some harsh methods but to no avail, and I now understand why.

Your methods of training have not only taught me how to gain control of Champ, but you have explained why it is so important for me to gain leadership in order to change Champs attitude and of course mine.

I am far from leadership yet, but now know that with continued effort it can be achieved.

I am already making progress with the cheeky chap.

It is because of your skills, not only with dogs, but your ability to explain your methods of training that have finally shown me direction, which is so greatly appreciated.

Thanks again Pete.

Regards,

Suzanne, Shannon and of course Champ.

P.s. A big thankyou to your lovely dogs for their part in champ’s training.

Dear Pete,

On Behalf of all of us at The Chilterns Dog rescue Society, Sara, Celia and myself would like to express our sincere thanks to you for taking Bosun under your wing for two weeks and subsequently finding him a potential new home. (He has been taken on trial for a four-week period to start with).

He left kennels to start his new life on Wednesday and we have heard nothing so far – which in our books is good news!

Bosun really seemed to enjoy the attention and stimulation given whilst with you, and hopefully through this he has learned to be more sociable with other dogs.

Please be advised that your leaflet is now available to potential and new dog owners here at Hog Lane and we will be in contact with you should we require your help with any other rescue dog in our care.

Yours sincerely,

Who says setters are untrainable?

After almost 25 years of owning setters, first Irish, then Gordon, we decided on acquiring two English Setter puppies – to attend training classes for the first time.

The breed are well known for their scattiness, energy and general devil-may-care attitude so we thought it would be a challenge for all concerned.

We contacted Peter Ross at Rossway Dog Training Centre on recommendation when the puppies (brothers – Rory and Rufus) were 11 weeks old and have been training once a week for the last 10 months.

The dogs are a pleasure to own, being obedient and responsive to all commands on and off the lead, they are sociable with other dogs and people, respond individually to voice control, bark on command, retrieve and drop – the list goes on.

They passed their Puppy Development Course with honours on their first birthday and are now progressing swiftly to the next stage. We have received a number of compliments on their behaviour, the most recent from a specialist at the Royal Vet’s College who commented that she wished all her patients were as beautifully behaved as Rufus.

This has all been achieved without any reduction of their happiness or natural exuberance – for this we owe Peter Ross a great debt of thanks.

His methods and enthusiasm cannot be surpassed and his love of dogs shines throughout – we could not have done it without him.

Dear Peter

I always enjoy coming to your Tuesday class with Harry. Harry and I arrived at your door a complete ‘two-left feet’ shambles and now dance down the street together in chirpy unison.

Unfortunately, I must put my attendance on hold for the foreseeable future due to work-related commitments.

I have recommended your training school to several people in Flamstead, especially as you treat the owners like human-beings and always have a smile and a joke for us struggling dog-devotees dreaming of the perfect “sit-wait”.

Kind regards

Dear Pete,

First may I take this opportunity to thank you for your time and efforts in training Honey, I appreciate we still have a long way to go but I do feel we are making headway.

Secondly, we are on the move to sunny Suffolk, so our training sessions sadly have to end.

If you and your wife are still interested in attending the last BTCC race at Donnington give me a call and I’ll get some tickets organised.

Once again, many thanks and yes, we will keep up the training!!!!!!!!!

Best regards

Dear Pete

A big thank you for your help in Cody’s training. If only I had known about your puppy classes then I would not have encountered the problems I did due to my previous trainer’s methods.

At last Pete I am going forward and enjoy it.

You have so much experience Pete, it’s great that you are so passionate about what you teach and that you share it with people like me that need that help.

Thanks again

Dear Pete

Just wanted to say a big thankyou for steering Bags and me (particularly me) through our basic training. You gave me the confidence to know that we were going in the right direction and I am so proud of the progress that he has made under your tutelage. I know that Bags is not going to make an obedience champion but that was never the object of the exercise for me. I wanted a well mannered and obedient dog that I could take anywhere without giving alarm or annoyance to those around us. And I think that we have certainly achieved that. I will of course continue his training on a daily basis because I know that what we have done so far is a bit like passing your driving test – now we know what to do but we just need to do it better.

I looked for a card depicting a Greyhound without success so have resorted to my usual device of making my own. Sorry about the very attractive human that got in on the picture! I shall miss the classes and seeing the progress of the other dogs and their owners and wish them well from me. I hope that when their stint is up they feel the same strange blend of satisfaction and sadness that it is time to move on that I experienced today. But perhaps I shall return (You have been warned) for a refresher from time to time. Thanks once again for setting us out on the right road.

Sincerely

Hazel Jinks

Deborah Kinloch:

I have been attending Pete’s training classes with my rescue dog Missie for nearly 2 years.  Her obedience and behaviour has greatly improved since we started.

we both enjoy the classes and there is lots of variety.  In every class we do obedience exercises, heelwork and agility.  As well as free running and retrieving in the paddock.

The facilities and trainers at Rossway are excellent.
